TGIF ...

Thank God it's Friday, seriously. I hope you all have some fun things planned this weekend. Due to the forcast you may need to be indoors. Bryan's birthday party was scheduled for Sat. but the rain may prevent the swimming part of the party. He found out the forecast and started bumming out. I asked what famous person said not to worry about tomorrow and he gave the huh? look. Jesus said in Matthew 6:34 " Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. " Verses 26-34 are great wisdom about worry and anxiety. It wouldn't hurt to read these verses everyday. Many times the things we worry about, whether we express them outwardly or not, are just 'paper tigers' we have conjured up in our own minds. Its almost like we have to wake up to the fact that it is not as bad as we think and usually everything works out if you just give it some time and actively trust God with the outcome.
Heading out for chemo this morning. This will be Gemzar #3. Blood work and Dr. visit too. I think I am trying to get a sore throat and gums. I'll consult with my Doc about this. He can do the pen light and 'say ah' thing. The rash is slowly but steadily getting better. You've heard of how something has left them 'scratching there heads', well I have taken that saying to a new level. The other day Robin came home and said, 'you were scratching your head when I left and you are still scratching it when I get back". Hey, if you are going to do something you might as well do it right. Praise God.
It is a trip to wear a surgical mask in public - especially a bank! But with where I am now immunity wise, I cannot take any chances. It will keep you humble. But look on the bright side, it covers my rash.
Here is some more wisdom from Yogi Berra.
"You've got to be very careful if you don't know where you're going, because you might not get there."

May God direct your steps today. God Bless. George.

Georgie, I just got back in town at 12:30 a.m. from a business trip to Minnesota, Connecticut and Massachusetts (Yankeeland) It was a good trip and I believe it will bear good fruit in the future months (not figs though). I caught up on my reading of your blog this morning and got TMI a couple of times. Regarding some of your symptoms ..., "this too will pass". You now have another "C" word, "Cramps" you might want to expound on that soon. And, IF they become a regular part of your life your future grandkids can call you "Cramps" instead of "Gramps" OR they could call you "Crampaw" instead of "Grandpaw"... get it? Okay, not so funny, sorry. Remember our chant.. No moe Chemo...No moe Chemo... well, tell the doctor that he had better hurry up and get this over before you scratch off the first two layers of skin. I do hope that symptom departs quickly, dear brother. Well, call me if you want some corny old brother to come visit with you over the next few days... then, I'll call somebody to do that for you.
Love in Christ Jesus,

You are soooo funny Russell!!!! Really I had to laugh.
George I am sooo sorry you are going through this!
Wil and I still try to understand why but it doesn't do any good. Just want you to know that when I read what you are going through...I often get convicted for my "little" issues! Really they are little compared. Thanks! I mean that sincerely.
If you were not transparent in your blogging, then we probably wouldn't hear "all" the real stuff a person goes through when dealing with cancer.
We tend to be in our "own" little world at times.
I guess that's human nature, until we see someone we really care for affected.
Hang in there. I know you have a strong wife and kids and ofcourse family....this is ALL such a blessing!
Also, thanks for the humor! I smile and cry and smile again with your blogging. I also look forward to reading them.
Have an awesome day and "encourage yourself in the Lord"!

Sonja
